APP's peer support service
APP’s award-winning peer support service connects women who have experienced PP, or high mood or mania after the birth of their child, with people who have been there and who understand.
It doesn’t matter how long ago their experience was. We also offer support to partners or family members of someone who has experienced PP.
We offer support online and face-to-face through our forum, one to one peer support service and café groups. You can read more about our services here.
Working as a peer supporter
Peer supporters commit as much or as little time as they are able to support others. You may exchange regular emails with someone in recovery, post on the forum or help with café groups. It's up to you how much you do and the types of peer support you feel most comfortable delivering.
If you are interested in becoming a peer support volunteer, please contact us at app@app-network.org to arrange to talk to one of our national peer support coordinators.
We are keen to recruit more peer support volunteers in particular areas of the UK as well as people from a range of specific backgrounds, in order to ensure our service is reaching as many people as possible.
Training as a peer supporter
We deliver a number of peer support training sessions each year. These sessions are limited and may be targeted to specific geographical and/or project areas. If you are trained, you can choose the types of peer support you feel most comfortable delivering.
You will also receive a volunteer handbook and ongoing support and training via our peer supporters' Facebook group.
Get started right now
Even if you aren’t able to be trained as a peer support volunteer (or while waiting to be trained), you can offer support to others by joining a local regional café group if there is one in your area, and/or by posting and replying to posts on our online community forum.
